The Man burns in 50 days!! Get to it!

Back by (un)popular demand is the ever entertaining Incendiary Intent Challenge, happening every weekday on the playa. Also making a return are the legendary bar nights with an array of unique drinks you cannot find anywhere else on the playa, music, and fire performances.

New to the lineup this year is the Incendiary Intent Jam Session, happening before each bar night kicks off, and our Gastronomae Dominae event that is sure to tingle your taste buds. We’re also doing a playa wide game of “kickball” with a sweet surprise for those that find us roaming around outside of camp.

Jameson not included

With the Burning Man “off season” now officially over, its time to start ramping up activity and updates in preparation to “Go Home”. We’re starting off with a little prep work on the website, adding a couple placeholder pages that will become our 2011 information hub, as well as making sure all the software is up to date.

Tickets went on sale this morning at 10:00am PST, and as expected the “launch day” woes were abundant while thousands of people got in the virtual line to make the purchase. Despite the confusion, server crashes, queue freezes, number jumping, and rage; today’s painful waiting game was not without some entertainment.

The Shroom shocked many people with today’s post titled Burning Man 2011 SOLD OUT!!!!. For those unfamiliar with The Shroom this was quite a scare, and numerous questions and rants followed on the Burning Man FaceBook page.

BMIR (the official radio station of Burning Man) has also been going all day long with various toons and the occasional ticket update. I highly recommend giving them a listen, especially if you’re still glued to your computer due to being in line.

So, with all that out of the way, and my epic 5 hour fiasco to get a ticket, I think its time to go do something else. Best wishes to everyone trying to get tickets today, and stay tuned for more Incendiary Intent 2011 information in the months to come!

In planning our social areas for Burning Man 2010, we’re making full use of the two shade structures built by Devin and family. The pair of 8 foot picnic tables and benches fill the shade space nicely, with plenty of standing room and movement area. We’re planning to paint the table with a finish that allows visitors to write messages on the surface. Just one more interactive part of the experience at our camp.

Hats off to Nyx, Lonny, Adam, Dawn, and Steve, who put in one helluva day prepping metal, welding, and painting our camp structures. A huge Incendiary Intent thank you goes out to Lee Berczel, Emobi, and Nate, who came out to bust-ass on the build projects, even though they may not even make it out to the playa with us this year. That’s friendship and dedication.

There’s still more to be done before we hit the playa this year. If you’re willing and able to help out with upcoming build days, we could definitely use you! E-mail Nyx if you’d like to be informed of future builds that might fit into your schedule.

High winds prevented a full-tank test of the flaming sign, however we did get in a few flame runs and got to see how it held up under the most severe conditions the playa could throw at us. If it can survive this, it can survive Burning Man. The extra height clears it for even our tallest members (Dave) to get up on the platforms while the sign is lit. A few more modifications, and this baby is ready for the burn.

Got the generator fired up, lights running, music blasting, and sand blowing everywhere. Sure felt a lot like Burning Man!

We MAY do another desert run between now and Burning Man. Weather conditions this time around prevented safe testing of fire gear, plus many of our members and regular attendees were unable to make it due to work. Tentatively looking at dates in June or early July for a Saturday-Sunday overnighter, depending on schedules and how many people can attend. E-mail me if you’d like a crack at the next one.

While the rest of them were off burning down the mountains, I was at home cooking up some mischief myself. There is officially too much vodka in my kitchen! Currently brewing:

A wonderful vanilla orange spice liquor
An experimental lemon vanilla liquor that will be premiering this year on the playa, and it’s counterpart of raspberry vanilla vodka.

And starting this week will be some of my home brewed chocolate liquor!

So things are heating up, and booze is coming to cool things off, and we’ve got 104 days til the Man burns!
